I keep hearing this birdsong that I have never noticed before. It was so clear and loud and unusual, I went outside and tried to see the bird but wasn't sure I was seeing the right thing. So I went on the internet and listened to recordings of birdsongs until I think I have identified it as the white-throated sparrow. It could be that a few have recently flown in from Canada to spend the winter here. And this is what he sounds like.
So I wanted to paint this little guy. I also have been wanting to update a painting over a doorway that is part of our built-in bookcases, and give it a subject that can carry through the next couple of seasons. And of course, it is my way to be so ambitious that I overshoot my actual talent and make my artistic tasks harder. Why paint one bird if you can paint 5? Here is the sparrow part of the painting, at left:
The rest of the painting has random inspecific birds in there. I stuck a yellow one in and I have no idea what he is supposed to be. Here is the middle:
The one on the right was going to be blue and then I changed my mind, so he is probably a little off.
