A friend suggested that I attempt a
paint horse, which I had never heard of. They do kind of look like someone threw a bucket of white paint at them. My first try was a little spotty, no pun intended. I did the background first and then painted a big white blob where the horse would go. Then I did it pretty much freehand. I kind of like the energy of this one, but I wanted to be more precise, so I tried it again, sketching it out in pencil.

My second one turned out cleaner, but I am not crazy about the eye.
