I thought I was making things a little too easy on myself, only making stuff up.
So I thought I should try to actually look at something and paint it. I thought the easiest way would be to find a picture I liked, so I copied one from the Internet, a Shutterstock photo, but I don't want to reproduce it here and worry about copyright issues, so here is the link. So this was my very first attempt.
It is not quite as bad as Beast Jesus. But believe me when I say, "This does not do it justice."
The chin is wrong, and should come up tighter. The ear is just awful. It just looks like a floating piece of plastic, or a paper cutout from a game of "Pin the Ear on the Mutton." Or sheep earbuds.
Also, is the sheep wearing a red yarmulke? I don't know why that is red there. Maybe there was a barn.
I will compliment myself and say that his (or her) nostril is spectacular.
Why a sheep? It was an inside joke with a coworker who used to send me sheep emojis. Then he gave his notice, and I wanted to make him laugh by giving him a painting of a sheep.
So I tried again with a different photo, and I liked this one better. I like this one a lot, actually. I managed to avoid trying to perfectly ape the details of the photo, and I think it looks like a children's book illustration.

I really love your honesty. You've done an amazing job. This adorable little dude is my favorite of all your paintings.
ReplyDeleteKeep on truckin, lady!
