Having learned a thing or two from my failed attempt at chicken depiction, I waited two days and tried again to paint this handsome rooster.
This time, I put less effort into the walkway and decided I could just suggest the walkway with mere chicken scratches, rather than revel in the texture of those stones. The real star, after all, is Mr. Rooster.
It is not perfect (his head doodad is a little too long and prominent, for instance), but I am happier with it. This gives me the nerve to try again. Maybe another time, another place, another rooster.
